Maribel Guédez, vice president of the Rural Forum of Venezuela, warned about the critical situation that millions of women in rural areas face of the country.

According to his statements to Union Radio, around 4 million women are part of this sector, and 3 million are in conditions of extreme poverty.

One of the most serious problems affecting this group is the lack of access to adequate health services.

«Health in the countryside is very precarious, especially in the most remote areas. During the menstrual cycle, many women do not have access to sanitary pads or drinking water.Guédez explained.

Guédez described the situation in rural areas where people still have to go to rivers to obtain water for basic tasks such as cooking, washing and bathing. This scenario, she noted, negatively impacts the quality of life of women and aggravates the already precarious situation in which they live.

The number of affected women is distributed in the 17 agricultural producing states of the country, according to Guédez. As leader of the Cambiemos party, he announced that his political organization is working on a program that will be presented to the Venezuelan State with the aim of addressing this problem and improving the living conditions of rural women.
