45-year-old bandit killed in failed La Horquetta grocery robbery

Police are investigating the circumstances that led to the death of a suspected bandit who tried to rob a La Horquetta grocery on Friday afternoon. 

Police said workers were at the Silver Fox Supermarket on Prophecy Avenue, La Horquetta, around 6.30 pm when they were confronted by a man holding a gun, who demanded cash.

One of the workers gave the man a bag with money, as the bandit took it he was confronted by another worker at the businessplace.

Both worker and bandit struggled and the bandit was shot with his own weapon during the fracas.

The bleeding suspect tried to run but collapsed nearby and was taken to the Arima Hospital by officers of thr Northern Division Task Force who were called in.

The man, who was identified as 45-year-old Richard McKie, died at the facility.

Region II Homicide investigators visited the scene with officers of the Northern Division CID.
