92 companies will participate in the seventh edition of the Unimet Job and Internship Fair

On Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 September, the Metropolitan University (Unimet) Job and Internship Fair returns for its seventh edition, with the participation of 92 companies from different sectors, which They will offer students their short and long-term job offers.

At a press conference, the secretary general of Unimet, Santiago Perera, indicated that companies are looking to attract young talent from the university to incorporate them into key positions in their organizations. He pointed out that around 4,000 job and internship offers were traded at the last fair and he hopes that this figure will increase with this new edition.

Perera emphasized the increase in the number of companies that will participate in this edition. “In the first editions we had 14 or 15 companies and now there are 92, and that reflects the development of Venezuela in different sectors. The number of companies that will participate, in a country with a complex reality, indicates that there is still interest in young talent, who want to take advantage of the resources of Unimet, which has made an effort to ensure that the learning and skills of our students are close to the needs of national companies,” he indicated.

Why is the Unimet Job and Internship Fair important?

He indicated that Unimet attaches importance to its students’ first jobs. In this regard, he mentioned the Unimet Internship program, which is developed in partnership with Venamcham, which seeks to involve the student with the best academic performance with prestigious companies and their representatives.

The Secretary General also noted that companies offer adequate salaries for students who aspire to internships, even jobs in Venezuelan companies. “Years ago we saw students with a vision of graduating and leaving the country, and now we see how companies are already offering competitive salaries that allow students to continue living in the country, despite the difficult circumstances,” he said.

For her part, the director of the UnimetT University Liaison Office, Anabella Betancourt, said that the fair reinforces the commitment of the orange house to integrate the student community, the university and the labor market. She explained that representatives of supermarket companies, technology companies, schools, banks and law firms, among others, as well as entrepreneurs, will attend the event.

The dean of the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences, Luis Oliveros, said that the Unimet Job and Internship Fair is one of the most important in Venezuela and highlighted that many of the students who aspired to an internship in one of the companies ended up staying and occupying positions, which places the company even more Unimet as one of the universities with the highest employability rate in the country.
