Police to charge two men in Maraval man’s murder

Two men, aged 19 and 22, are set to be charged with the murder of Diego Roper from Maraval.

The 19-year-old is a member of the Coast Guard.

The incident took place on the night of September 8, 2024.

Police say, around 9:30pm that night,  Diego was heard shouting, “No boy, no boy,” followed by loud explosions. After that, he went missing, and a red vehicle was seen leaving the scene. Attempts to contact him via phone were unsuccessful.

On September 9, a Missing Person Report was filed, leading to an investigation. Diego’s body was found on September 12, 2024.

The suspects were arrested on September 15 and 16 and are expected to appear in court on September 23, 2024. Authorities consulted with the acting Director of Public Prosecutions, who advised that charges be filed.
