Maduro seeks to strengthen relations with Iran

The presidents of Venezuela and Iran, Nicolás Maduro and Masoud Pezeshkian seek to expand relations and investments between their countriesfor which authorities from both governments held several meetings this week in Tehran, according to a report on Friday by the state-run channel Venezuelan Television (Venezuelan Television).VTV).

On its website, VTV explained that Pezeshkian held a meeting with the Venezuelan Minister of Transport and president of the Joint Economic Commission between Iran and VenezuelaRamón Velásquez, who traveled to Tehran “in order to expand trade relations,” without knowing details about the areas in which they plan to work on this extension of economic ties.

“The president announced the support of the Islamic Republic of Iran for Venezuela’s entry into the BRICS group (of emerging economies led by Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa),” the statement said, citing information from the portal.

The minister also “conveyed Maduro’s warm greetings” to the Iranian authorities. He also “wished success to Pezeshkian,” whose government began at the end of July.
