Additional Maritime Assets En Route To T&T To Bolster Border Security

The Cape Class Coast Guard vessels, the TTS PORT OF SPAIN and TTS SCARBOROUGH, officially departed Western Australia on Tuesday transported via heavy lift ship, the BBC RUSHMORE.

The Ministry of National Security says the two vessels, built by Austal, are expected to arrive in Trinidad and Tobago in six to eight weeks, depending on weather conditions along the route.

The Ministry says the addition of the vessels will strengthen the capabilities of the T&T Coast Guard in the areas of border security, search and rescue, protection of critical energy infrastructure, as well as counter trafficking.
