He leader of the Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, He stated that the Spanish ambassador to Venezuela, Ramón Santos, was aware of the coercion of Edmundo González within the Embassy and “lent himself to committing an act of coercion.”

“The Spanish ambassador is aware that the legitimate winner of the elections is being coerced and It lends itself to the country’s embassy to carry out an act of coercion, of pressure that is absolutely impossible to validate. “in an ordinary democratic regiment like the Spanish one,” Feijóo said this Sunday in an interview with Radio Galega, reported by Europa Press.

Feijóo has criticised the fact that the government has still not recognised Edmundo González as the legitimate president of Venezuela and that Spain has mediated between the Maduro regime and the Venezuelan opposition so that “the leader who won the elections” could leave the country.

He stressed that countries such as Chile and Mexico recognise that the winner of the elections was the opposition candidate, who had sought asylum in Spain.

«Maduro has no records that can prove that he has won and, therefore, what they are doing is persecuting the opposition, who have to take refuge in embassies or who are practically at home in a situation of enormous panic,” Feijóo said.

The Popular Party member has indicated that if the Spanish government “is with Maduro”, he is with the Venezuelan democrats: “It is an honour for me to lead the recognition of the democratic results of Venezuela against my government, against the government of Spain.”
