“We are moving in the right direction”

“We are moving in the right direction, we know who our allies are and our strategy. They will not have financial stability,” said opposition leader María Corina Machado when referring to the situation in Venezuela during her speech at the United Nations. Machado participated in the Forum “Heroes of Democracy in Venezuela” within the framework of the General Assembly of the organization.

In this regard, Machado insisted that -in his opinion- Edmundo González Urrutia won the last presidential elections in which Nicolás Maduro declared himself the winner. The National Electoral Council proclaimed -without publishing the minutes- Maduro as the winner of the process despite the fact that the Venezuelan opposition showed minutes in which González Urrutia would win with more than 60% of the votes.

“No one doubts that Edmundo González “He won by a landslide. Maduro’s response has been a wave of repression, which was made clear in the report of the UN Human Rights Mission,” Machado said during her intervention in the panel.

Likewise, the opposition leader said that she continues to work with the opposition candidate in defense of freedom and in promoting political change in the country.

“Edmundo and I are working together and receiving support from the rest of the world,” he said.

He insisted that Venezuela will be free. “People have made the cause of Venezuela their personal cause, we want to be seen by the world. We are going to fix this and we will be free,” said Machado.
