Five dead after bus overturns

Five people died, including several minors, and eight others were injured in a traffic accident Registered on Tuesday, September 24 at the Caripe municipality of Monagas state.

A bus carrying a children’s soccer team, named Real Barcelona de Anzoátegui, to the Jardín de Oriente tournament crashed overturned and fell into a ravine on the La Campana curve in Caripe, north of the state of Monagas, according to local media.

The tragic accident in Monagas was allegedly caused by a mechanical failure in the unit, however, the authorities are making inquiries to confirm what happened.

Unofficially it was learned that the deceased in the Monagas accident were identified as Alfredo de la Cruz Merodi, 38 years old, Alfredo Alejandro Merdodi, 15 years old, Luciano Alfredo Merdodi Leonett, 5 years old, Jhassikocv Gil, 5 years old, and Geidi Gil, of unknown age.

The death of Geidi Gil and Jhassikocv Gil, mother and son, respectively, was confirmed in the evening by the Anzoátegui Fútbol Club, through its Instagram account, where it was reported that the woman and the minor were the wife and son of coach Víctor Bucarito.

The injured people were transferred to the Dr. Manuel Núñez Tovar University Hospital, in the city of Maturín, to receive medical treatment.

This is the second accident involving sports teams in the municipality this year. The last one was in May, when there were 27 injuries and two deaths.
