Tobago man in Court for murder

A Tobago man was remanded in custody after being charged by Tobago’s Homicide Bureau of Investigations Tobago on Tuesday.

Police say 23-year-old Jay Quashie, a labourer of Plymouth Road, Tobago was charged on Wednesday with murder, five counts of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm,  possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition.

According to a police report on Wednesday, August, 21 shortly before 8pm, officers were alerted to a report of loud explosions at Friendsfield Road Scarborough. 

On arrival, three men were observed lying on the roadway nursing what appeared to be gunshot wounds, while another man was observed to be lying motionless on the ground down a flight of stairs, on the eastern side of the roadway.

Further enquiries revealed that around 7.30 pm that night, a group of men was liming at the side of the roadway, when three men armed with firearms and a rifle, alighted from a white wagon and began shooting at the men. 

The men then re-entered the vehicle and it sped off south along Friendsfield Road.

Kerlon Thomas, 21, of Friendsfield Road, Scarborough, was eventually pronounced dead by the attending district medical officer.
