Rains in Greater Caracas caused destruction: fallen trees, flooded roads, hail and electrical failures

Through social networks, users reported that due to the gaps caused by heavy rains, passage through some streets in the capital was restricted. This was the case of the Coche bridge, on Intercomunal del Valle avenue, whose access was closed in the afternoon.

In sectors such as Los Chaguaramos and Altamira, drivers indicated that traffic was recorded as a result of the rains. While in Las Mercedes the flooding of the Guaire River was recorded as a result of the showers.

Damage in Greater Caracas after heavy rains

Fallen trees were also recorded in various sectors of the city, including the Valle-Coche highway, 500 meters before the access to the Pan-American highway, right at the Las Gaviotas Distributor towards Coche.

On the main avenue of Horizonte in Marqués, a tree fell on a vehicle. A Civil Protection (PC) team moved to the scene to address the situation and no injuries were reported.

Social media users reported that hail fell on Casanova Avenue, in Caracasduring the rains recorded on Wednesday afternoon in Greater Caracas. Drivers reported that rocks fell on their windshields while driving.

Mayors and other authorities of the municipalities that make up Greater Caracas, asked for caution when traveling through streets and avenues.

Electrical problems were also recorded in some areas of the capital, the state of Miranda and in other entities of the country.

The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (Inameh) indicated that Wednesday’s rains would be accompanied by electrical shocks.

Tropical waves will cause precipitation in Venezuela

Inameh reported that on Wednesday, September 25 The arrival of tropical wave number 39 was expected. In the morning hours, it was in western French Guiana and would pass through Esequiba Guyana.

On the other hand, he indicated that tropical wave number 40 is expected to move through the national territory starting on October 3.

The meteorological entity estimates for 2024 the passage of 65 tropical waves through Venezuela during the rainy season that will last until November.
