Kerry: Climate Change ‘Threat’ to Nat’l Security

Secretary of State John Kerry says the threat of climate change is crucial to US and international security around the world while speak at Old Dominion University in Virginia on Tuesday.
Kerry said that as a nation, ‘we have to heighten our national security readiness’ to deal with the possible destruction of vital infrastructure that climate change poses.
Kerry added that while many people often mock the seriousness of climate change’s impact on the world, ‘it’s not just about ‘Bambi’, it’s about all of us.’
The Secretary of State will later meet with a group of ODU students aspiring to be the next generation of scientists working on solutions to the issues of climate change and sea level rise.
While in Norfolk, he will also tour the USS San Antonio and receive a briefing at the Maritime Operations Center.
