A total of 1.8 million Venezuelans received humanitarian aid from the beginning of this year until the end of August, through social programs implemented by 148 national and international non-governmental organizations, the Office of Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) of the UN.

In its most recent report, the organization indicated that 993,000 people obtained health care, while another 583,000 received some type of help to improve their food security and livelihoods.

Likewise, 335,000 Venezuelans obtained assistance in water, sanitation and hygiene.

The report details that 59% of the people who received one or more types of humanitarian aid were women in Caracas and in the 23 states of Venezuela.

OCHA indicated that 479,000 children and adolescents benefited from activities to access balanced school meals with “hygiene standards”, while 191,000 people received mental health care, psychosocial assistance and support, and socio-emotional learning.

Among the vulnerable groups, he noted, 83,000 members of indigenous communities, 36,000 people with disabilities, 39,000 pregnant and lactating women, as well as 2,000 Venezuelans from the LGTBI community, benefited.

Humanitarian organizations implement a response plan in the country, with the objective of serving 5.1 million people, for which 617 million dollars are required, of which they have received 105.7 million dollars.

Humanitarian aid reached 2.7 million Venezuelans in 2023, when the country began to consolidate its incipient economic growth, which began at the end of 2021, after a deep economic crisis in which there was widespread shortage of food and medicines.
