In Palermo Soho, Buenos Airesthe first edition of a rum festival organized by two Venezuelans who want to share the culture of rum in Argentina will be held. They will offer cocktail shows, tastings and live talks.

He Buenos Aires Rum Fest will take place at the Espacio Vivo Cultural, located at Nicaragua 4462, on Sunday, October 6 from 1:00 pm to midnight.

One of the organizers is Daniel González, creator of Ron Querencia, the first Argentine distillate of this type made by Venezuelans.

González explained that the arrival of immigrants to Argentina has boosted the marketing of rum, as well as Venezuelan gastronomy. He assured that there is a market niche with opportunity for expansion.

«We are inviting large and artisanal distilleries that have been daring to produce rum for a long time. There is an important community of Venezuelans in Argentina that means many people are making rum. So the festival will be an important window,” González commented in an interview with AsSuch.

He added that these types of festivals encourage and open a door for brands to show their products. As an example, he highlighted tequeños, which are currently available at service stations and even the cinema in Buenos Aires.

Among the participating brands are Ron Querencia, Remedium, Destilería Elder, 4 Escudos, Se7timo Ron de Miel, Buriel Desstilleries, Destilería Demian, Ron Cayman, Bruna Brown, Casa Bartender and Motofeca.

«Rum is a country brand, it is one of the three designations of origin along with cacao, cocuy and now ají margariteño. Doing this festival is having a Venezuela close by, it is a necessary approach to our land.«added Daniel González.

Tickets cost 7,000 Argentine pesos without taxes (about $7.25 at the official local rate) and include a tasting and a gift to participants. They can be purchased at Eventbrite.
