“They are not going to silence the cry of a nation”

Two months after the presidential elections in Venezuela, in which the National Electoral Council (CNE) proclaimed Nicolás Maduro as the winner without publishing results, the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD) spoke out in response to the global protest held in Venezuela and several cities of the world in rejection of the so-called “electoral fraud” and highlighted the day as “extraordinary.”

“Neither the repression or the brutal persecution of the regime, the clandestinity or the thousands of obstacles managed to silence the cry of a nation that demands freedom for Venezuela and all political prisoners”highlighted the Unitary Platform in a joint statement to Command with Venezuela published on Saturday, September 28 on the social network X.

The opposition, led by Maía Corina Machado, called on Venezuelans to demonstrate in small groups in different sectors of each city or town in Venezuela on September 28.

This day of protest was carried out under a new modality called “swarm”, which invited citizens to “appear and disappear” quickly to avoid being arrested, after the brutal repression unleashed after the post-election crisis.

The Venezuelan community in Argentina met in the legendary Saavedra Park (Buenos Aires) where local media attended and had the participation of the Argentine Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich, who called for respect for the vote of Venezuelans and demonstrated against the repressive actions of Nicolás Maduro’s authorities.

The event was also attended by the Venezuelan actress and former beauty queen Catherine Fulop along with the social communicator Carolina Amoroso, which has documented various stories about the migration crisis that Venezuelans have experienced in recent years.

According to data from the Unitary Platform and Command with Venezuela, González Urrutia won the elections presidential elections, held on July 28, with a total of 7,303,480 votes in favor while Nicolás Maduro obtained 3,316,142, figures obtained with 83.50% of the verified minutes.

On the other hand, Chavismo mobilized in several states such as Aragua, Monagas, Amazonas, Sucre, Lara, Apure, Falcón, La Guaira, Delta Amacuro to celebrate the controversial reelection of Nicolás Maduro, a result questioned inside and outside the country.

Supporters of the Venezuelan regime, convened by the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), attended the event with flags and traditional symbols of the ruling party, including images of the late president Hugo Chávez (1999-2013), as well as banners with the image of Maduro.

Maduro participated in the demonstration in La Guaira, where he assured that in these two months they have consolidated the electoral “victory”, despite the fact that a good part of the international community has demanded the disaggregated publication of the results that confirm the president’s triumph, according to with data from the EFE news agency.
