Today’s Highlights:
An autopsy revealed that 21-year-old Vikash Jonas died as a result of a gunshot wound to the head.
• Initial reports were that Jonas died on Saturday 20th July, 2024 after he fell and hit his head while fishing for conch with friends at the Charuma River off Charuma Road, Biche on Friday 19th July, 2024.
A total of sixty-one (61) murders were recorded for the month of July thus far.
• This was the highest number of murders that was recorded in any month for this year.
A contractor only identified as Chris, was shot and killed in Unity Lane, Carapo earlier on Thursday 25th July, 2024.
58-year-old Ricky Loach of Mon Desir Road, South Oropouche was fatally shot in the carpark of V’s Plaza in San Fernand on Wednesday 24th July, 2024.
A La Brea man identified as Keron Charles, who was shot while inside a vehicle at Picton Street in Tunapuna on the night of Monday 22nd July 2024, succumbed to his injuries at the Mt. Hope hospital.
While speaking at a post-cabinet media briefing on July 25th, Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley disclosed that MP for Port of Spain South Keith Scotland has been named a minister in the ministry of national security.
Dr Rowley said Scotland will be responsible for police matters and will work with the minister, specifically on police issues.
A woman is currently listed in critical condition after she was shot when she went to purchase a vehicle from a Facebook marketplace seller in San Juan on Tuesday 23rd July, 2024.
• The victim was identified as 34-year-old Gabriella Roberts of Quarry Settlement #2, Siparia.
A man identified as Adesh Sieulal was assaulted after he refused to drop an intoxicated man at Mt Hope hospital on Monday 22nd July 2024.
