Today’s Highlights:
A man only identified by his alias Benji was shot and killed near Villa Cruz Sports Bar in Cantaro Village, Santa Cruz earlier on Tuesday 9th July, 2024.
The lifeless body of 49-year-old Anthony Sahadeo James of Ramnarine Trace, San Francique was found on a bed, bleeding from wounds to the head at his home on Monday 8th July, 2024.
Tobago has now recorded its first quadruple murder after another man who was wounded during a shooting in Black Rock, Tobago on Monday 8th July, 2024, succumbed to his injuries.
• The deceased identified as 42-year-old Jumoke Duncan of Bethel, succumbed to his injuries at the Scarborough General Hospital while 56-year-old Anslem Douglas of Calder Hall, Tobago, 54-year-old Gregory Hamlet of Golden Lane and 35-year-old Samuel Mckain of Mt Pleasant died at the scene.
Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley chaired a National Security Council meeting at the Office of the Prime Minister, Central Administrative Services in Tobago earlier on Tuesday 9th July 2024.
Following the National Security Council meeting, commissioner of Police Erla Harewood-Christopher while speaking at a media briefing, also said that more police officers, CCTV cameras, intelligence gathering from the cybercrime unit and additional forensic resources will be deployed to Tobago to combat crime.
Prime Minister Dr. Rowley, while speaking at the conference earlier today, made mention that Trinidad-based officers will be stationed in Tobago on a short-term basis to help tackle the island’s rising murder rate.
National Security Minister, Fitzgerald Hinds also made known that 2,500 CCTV cameras will be added to the 2500 cameras that were recently installed in Tobago.
