Mothers of teenagers protested at the TSJ

“Neither terrorists or criminals, our boys are innocent”. Under this slogan, mothers of teenagers They gathered outside the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) in Caracas.

The objective of the protest was to advocate for the release of the detained young people, as well as to present an appeal for protection to demand respect for fundamental rights.

According to him Venezuelan Observatory of Prisons (OVP), two mothersrepresenting the Committee of Mothers in Defense of the Truththey entered the TSJ in the company of a private defender. There they were able to submit the appeal for protection.

Why an appeal for protection in the case of adolescents?

Since the wave of protests broke out against the awarding of the presidential election to Maduro, hundreds of detained teenagers have not had access to private defense or communication with family members.

Former presidential candidate Henrique Márquez also participated in the protest. This demonstration comes after seven detained minors went to trial.

All of them arrested after the post-election protests and aged between 15 and 17 years. They are accused of terrorism, incitement to hatred, obstruction of public roads and resistance to authority.
