Daryl Grant, a 42-year-old from Newlands Village in Guayaguayare, was injured by a trap gun while hunting. He suffered gunshot wounds to his leg, torso, and arm, and his dog was killed.

Grant was hunting in the Guayaguayare Forest with his brother, Oquan Williams, when the trap gun went off.

Oquan helped him out of the forest and took him to the Mayaro Health Facility. He was later transferred to Sangre Grande Hospital for further treatment.

Police received a report around 12:20 am on Friday about a man with gunshot wounds at the Mayaro Health Facility.

Officers Tamfee and Ramoutar interviewed Grant, who explained that around 5:30 pm on Thursday, while hunting near White Fowl Camp, he heard a loud bang and felt a burning pain on the right side of his body. He suspects a trap gun caused his injuries.

Grant arrived at the health facility at 12:10 am on Friday and is currently in stable condition at Sangre Grande Hospital.
