Four held, narcotics seized in police exercises

Four persons were arrested, and quantities of narcotics seized by officers during anti-crime exercises conducted in the Central, North-Eastern, North-Northern and Southern Divisions on Thursday.

The Police Service says the operation included officers of the Central Division Task Force, Central Division Gang Unit and the Canine Branch, and was conducted between 5 am and 4 pm, on October 3, 2024.

The TTPS reports that during the exercise, officers conducted a search at the home of a 43-year-old male suspect in Kelly Village, Caroni.

The search resulted in the discovery and seizure of a quantity of cocaine.

The man who was in the house at the time of the exercise was arrested in connection with the find.

The TTPS says the same party of officers then proceeded to the El Socorro district where they found 1.6 kilogrammes of cannabis in three rectangular packages.

Three other male suspects were arrested in connection with those finds.

Meanwhile, in the Southern Division, officers of the Road Traffic Task Force conducted an anti-crime operation in the La Romaine district between 10 am and 1 pm, yesterday.

Officers involved in the exercise went to La Plaisance Road, where they conducted a search of a bushy area. There, they found a quantity of cannabis with an estimated street value of $6,000.

Investigations are ongoing into all of the above matters, the TTPS said.
