Chacao opens call for the 2024 Municipal Film Award

Since last September 16 and until November 1, 2024, applications for the Chacao Municipal Film Award will be open, as announced by the vice president of the Municipal Council of Chacao. Chacao and president of the Human Capital Commission, councilor Oscar González.

«Chacao is culture and with the objective of recognizing cinematographic talent, we begin applications for the 4th. Edition of the Municipal Film Award, where we will recognize filmmakers with a long career in the country and those who begin their work as audiovisual artists,” González highlighted.

For his part, the mayor of Chacao, Gustavo Duque, pointed out that “in Chacao, culture is a priority; and these types of initiatives to recognize national cinematographic talent excite us, motivate us and drive us to continue working for art and culture in our municipality.

Councilor Oscar González also specified that in this edition of the Municipal Film Award the following categories will be awarded: fiction feature film, documentary feature film, fiction short film, documentary short film, fiction medium-length film, documentary medium-length film, best leading actress, best leading actor , best supporting actress, best supporting actor, best photography, best script, best direction, best editing, best art direction, best music, best production, best sound design, best debut feature, documentary short film (aimed at students) and fiction short film (aimed at students).

All works made by Venezuelan filmmakers inside and outside the country, the works of the new generations in the cinematographic area, as well as those of filmmakers with a recognized career who have been exhibited in commercial movie theaters, national festivals, may participate in this Film Award. and/or international.

The jury for this 2024 edition of the Film Award is made up of experts from the world of Venezuelan cinema such as: Solveig Hoogesteijn, filmmaker, producer, writer and cultural manager, who will preside over the jury on this occasion. Accompanied by Leonardo Henríquez, filmmaker, editor and writer, José Manuel Suárez, film and theater actor, Valentina Saa Carbonell, writer and screenwriter, Pablo Blanco, journalist and broadcaster specialized in film, Maurizio Liberatoscioli, documentary filmmaker, film producer and film analyst, and by Carlos Marchan, film producer.

The Human Capital Commission of the Chacao Municipal Council, chaired by Councilor Oscar González, invites all filmmakers in the country to apply for this 4th.
