Floods reported in Caracas and Miranda after heavy rains

  • Oct, Sat, 2024

Residents of Caracas and part of the Altos Mirandinos reported flooding this Saturday, October 5, due to heavy rains attributed to the “Cordonazo of San Francisco”.

Among the flooded areas are the sectors of Las Palmas and Las Acacias in Caracas, where a user warned that water was entering the buildings and asked for support from the authorities; also in La Línea de Petare, and in San Antonio de los Altos in Miranda.

It was reported that the rains caused a tree to fall on the El Amarillo road and traffic collapsed on that stretch of road in San Antonio de los Altos. “There is no passage for any vehicle”a user is heard saying in a video broadcast on x.

A section of Intercomunal Guarenas Guatire Avenue was also damaged by the rains, according to a video posted on social networks.

The Cordonazo of San Francisco de Asís is a Venezuelan tradition. This phenomenon is related to the weather and is characterized by abundant rain, electric shocks and gusts of wind every October 4.
