Arbitrarily detained teenagers are accused of fascism

16 of the 67 adolescents arbitrarily detained during the post-election protests have been sent to trial electronically since September 26, in Court 2 with jurisdiction over terrorism, headed by Judge Keidimar Ramos Castillo.

The 67 teenagers are listed in the most recent report from the NGO Penal Forumwhich reports a total of 1,905 political prisoners in its balance sheet as of September 30.

The young people are accused of allegedly having engaged in terrorism, incitement to hatred, obstruction of public roads, resistance to authority and improper use of insignia and uniforms; and in prisons for allegedly being fascists, a term that many of them are unaware of at their young age.

In one of the cases, Mariela’s 16-year-old son is accused, who has asked her during her visits “What does fascist mean?”. The custodians repeat the phrase to the teenager, a promise of Venezuelan baseball.

The young man was arrested on the night of July 30 in a field in the La Isabelica urbanization, south of Valencia. It supposedly had tires and Molotov cocktails, but videos recorded by neighbors do not show it.

“I have two videos. One when they are putting him in the patrol car and they are pushing him and hitting him on the head. I also have a video where they hit him on the floor and one of the police officers shouts for them to kill him,” the mother denounced in an interview with As Is.

Torture against detained teenagers

Mariela assured that the guards beat the teenager at the police station. “It was so horrible that I thought I was vomiting blood. The police wanted me to record a video so that I could say that María Corina Machado was paying me 30 dollars to go out and protest.. “I didn’t make that video,” the victim told him.

Relatives of the detained teenagers expressed regret for not previously reporting the irregularities and violations of their rights. They point out that there was a delay of up to 52 days for the preliminary hearing, they were never allowed to read the file and were never allowed to appoint a private lawyer.
