More than 20 families affected by floods in Ciudad Bolívar

Once again, the residents of the Cañafístola sector in the Marhuanta parish of the Angostura del Orinoco municipality (Ciudad Bolívar) were surprised by the water, when the river overflowed and caused flooding in the homes as a result of the torrential rains that were recorded in the early morning of this October 5affecting more than 20 families that live in the town.

Merlyn Soto, an injured neighbor, with more than 16 years in the community, highlighted that this is the fourth time that they have been victims of floods in recent years. “AND It is getting worse, because the river returns and takes its course moreresulting in the morichal also claiming its natural space.”

When water entered homes, it affected the lives of children, young people, elderly people and some neighbors with special needs, who reported that they once again lost their few belongings recovered from the last flood two years ago.

The victims of the natural tragedy demand that the competent authorities address the emergency that this time affects more than 20 families residing in the sector.

It is worth noting that in the early hours of Saturday morning the residents were already on alert, because when it started to rain heavily, around 11:00 at night, They suspected it would make the situation worse. of those who reside in the sector of the Marhuanta parish, of Angostura del Orinoco. Therefore, at 2:00 in the morning they recorded how the river left its channel, entering the homes of the families who reside there.

Soto pointed out that this is not the first time. Because This October 5 marks two years since the river went out of control. They lost all the belongings that they have not been able to replace to date and the little they had recovered they lost again this morning.

As reported by the neighbors, after 7:00 in the morning a Civil Protection team arrived with a truck and three people who did not tour, did not evaluate the homes, or take the data, assuring them that this data was already archived.

That is why they are calling on the governor of Bolívar state to fulfill what was offered two years ago. Especially when he promised to relocate them to the El Gran Gigante urban development and that remained promises, because they continue waiting.

“We need an immediate solution because many houses are sinking and others are collapsing” Soto assured. Furthermore, he added that he had also promised them a restructuring or relocation. However, nothing had happened and consequently these families lost everything and were flooded again.
