8 held for DUI, 64 tickets issued by cops
Coordinated road and traffic enforcement exercises in the Port-of-Spain and Freeport districts yesterday led to six people being charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI).
The TTPS in a statement said the operations conducted between midnight to 4 am by Snr Supt Thom and Supt Jankie, several people were arrested after they were found to be over the legal alcohol limit of 35 mcg per every 100 ml of breath.
In addition, the officers searched approximately 45 motor vehicles, resulting in two electronic fixed penalty notices being issued.
Meanwhile, a joint Stop and Search Exercise was conducted by the Highway Patrol Task Force and members of the Barataria HP Shift C, between 6 pm and 10 pm on Saturday—which resulted in 12 electronic fixed penalty notices and two arrests for DUI being issued to a 25-year-old man of Hingoo Lane, Boundary Road Extension, Aranguez; and a 41-year-old man of Mt Dor Road, Champs Fleurs.
And a speed enforcement operation along the Uriah Butler Highway between 12 pm and 4 pm on Friday coordinated by W/Insp Mohan and Sgt Oliver resulted in a total of 50 electronic fixed penalty notices being issued for speeding.
