Pérez Vivas ruled out that the opposition thinks about elections

The political leader César Pérez Vivas ruled out this Tuesday that the Platform Unitary Democratic Party (PUD) is thinking about participating in regional or parliamentary elections, after claiming fraud due to the results of the National Electoral Council (CNE) that favor Nicolás Maduro.

Pérez Vivas assured that the objective is for Edmundo González Urrutia to be recognized as the elected president of Venezuela. He described it as not feasible for him to be sworn in in a “symbolic act,” and stated that the PUD is committed to having it take place in the country itself on January 10.

“I am in favor of Edmundo González continuing his fight, which has been quite positive in denouncing fraud, and when the objective circumstances and legal and political conditions are met on January 10, that day, in accordance with the Constitution, he must be invested as president; but that investiture cannot be symbolic, but absolutely real,” he said in an interview with Digital News.

The former governor of the state of Táchira emphasized that González Urrutia has to exercise government in an “effective and democratic” manner to begin a process of relegitimization of powers, restructuring of the State and politics, so as to “return to Venezuela freedom, democracy and well-being.

The opponent stated that Maduro “will not be able to hold on for long” and will have to abandon power as happened to Marcos Pérez Jiménez on January 23, 1958.
