Shrek’s body dug up from Grande grave, set ablaze
The body of Kevon Lucas, also known as “Shrek”, was removed from his grave and set on fire. Lucas and nurse Sherayne Salandy were shot and killed last Sunday in Boodoo Highway, Sangre Grande.
It is believed that the killers wanted to ensure the identification of their victim, so they went to the Turure Cemetery in Guaico where Lucas was laid to rest, dug up his grave, removed the body, and further desecrated it.
Police believe the body was doused with a flammable substance and set on fire. People who live close to the cemetery told the Sangre Grande police that they felt it was some superstitious act as they saw fire coming from the grave of the cemetery for the first time.
They also told the authorities that they had seen two guys who were allegedly nationals of Venezuela leaving the cemetery. A video, recorded by one of the suspects, shows a message in Spanish placed near the body before it was burned. The message, translated, read, “Melandro Ismael strike.”
According to the police, this is the first time they have encountered a report of this kind, and it has left them confused and challenged.
In 2022, Lucas staged his death with another individual in Sangre Grande.
In January 2023, he survived an attack when gunmen raided his girlfriend’s home at Blake Avenue Extension, Sangre Grande, resulting in the death of six-year-old Kylie Meloney.
There were rumours that Lucas used Kylie as a human shield and again pretended to be dead during that incident.
Investigations are continuing.
