UN holds emergency meeting on Middle East as Israel bars Guterres from entry

Hours after an Iranian attack on Israel, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) convened an emergency meeting to address the situation in the Middle East.

Israel’s ambassador to the UN called the barrage an “unprecedented act of aggression,” while his Iranian counterpart said the move was necessary to deter further Israeli violence.

Earlier in the day, Israel’s foreign minister declared UN Security General Antonio Guterres persona non grata after he failed to “unequivocally” condemn Iran’s attack.
