The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) has announced the addition of 93 new vehicles to its fleet, with 166 vehicles being procured in total.

In a media statement, the TTPS said an additional 73 vehicles are expected to be delivered by the end of December 2024.

It said this significant boost to its vehicle resources is aimed at improving public safety and police effectiveness.

The new vehicles will be distributed across all 10 Police Divisions and assigned to various Sections, Branches and Units of the TTPS.

“These vehicles will play a vital role in supporting our ongoing anti-crime initiatives, particularly in our efforts to curb serious crimes.” Said Commissioner of Police, Erla Harewood-Christopher.

She noted that the new vehicles represent a major investment in the future of policing.

“The addition of these vehicles significantly enhances our mobility and operational capacity, allowing us to respond more quickly to incidents and increase our visibility in communities. This will improve our ability to protect and serve the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago,” she stated.

The CoP said the investment “underscores the TTPS’s commitment to providing a safer environment for all citizens.”

“We remain focused on utilizing these new resources to protect the lives and property of the people of Trinidad and Tobago,” she said. “With this increased capacity, we anticipate that the benefits to public safety will be immediate and far-reaching.”
