A special reserve police officer who was on suspension was killed in a drive-by shooting in San Juan on Saturday night.

Jerome Bleasdell, 32, of La Canoa Road, Lower Santa Cruz, was gunned down on the Eastern Main Road in front of a Chinese supermarket.

Police said Bleasdell completed security duties at the supermarket and had just entered a Nissan B15 driven by Felipe Cole, 25, when a white Toyota Aqua pulled up next to them and the occupants began firing in their direction.

Video footage showed Bleasdell getting out of the car and running a short distance before collapsing on the road.

Both men suffered gunshot wounds and were rushed to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mt Hope. Bleasdell died at the hospital around 11.12 pm. Officers from the North Eastern Division CSI recovered several spent shells at the scene.

Police have no motive for the killing.
