Mayaro MP Rushton Paray has labelled Energy and Energy Industries Minister Stuart Young’s comments against Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar as “profoundly offensive and unacceptable.”

In a statement sent to the media, Paray stated that “in a time when our society is grappling with issues such as road rage, bullying, and growing anger, it is deeply concerning to witness inappropriate remarks made within our Parliament.”

He added that comments such as these “undermines the decorum and respect expected in our highest legislative body. The Parliamentary Standing Orders have mechanisms to deal with this thoroughly, ensuring that any misconduct is appropriately addressed to maintain the integrity of our parliamentary proceedings.”

He said that Young’s behaviour should not go unchecked and he should face public accountability “to uphold the standards of our Parliament and set a positive example for our society.”
