Two arrested, cannabis seized in Arouca anti-crime exercise

An anti-crime operation yesterday in the Arouca district resulted in the arrest of two men and the seizure of a quantity of marijuana.

According to Police Service reports, between 8:00 am and 11:00 am on Tuesday (October 15, 2024), police officers received information that led them to the Windy Hill area.

There, they observed a brown Nissan Almera turning onto the Arouca Old Road and heading west.

The officers successfully stopped the vehicle for a search, during which they found 562.30 grams of cannabis hidden under the front passenger seat.  The drugs have an estimated street value of $4,000.

The driver, a 54-year-old man from Post Office Road in Diego Martin, and his passenger, a 43-year-old man from Patna Village, Diego Martin, were both cautioned and arrested.

The men were taken to the Arouca Police Station.

The operation was coordinated by Assistant Commissioner of Police Singh, Senior Superintendent Maynard Wilson, Superintendent Guellmo, Assistant Superintendent Pitt, Assistant Superintendent Demattos, and Inspector Lewis. W/Sgt Ramai supervised the operation, with support from members of the Arima Operations and Intelligence Team.
