Elvis Amoroso reappears in public after more than 70 days away from public scrutiny

After more than 70 days away from public scrutiny, Elvis Amoroso, president of the National Electoral Council (CNE)reappeared on Tuesday, October 15, in a military event with Nicolás Maduro.

The official had not been seen in public since August 5, when he appeared before the Supreme Court of Justice to provide documents validating Nicolás Maduro’s alleged victory in the July 28 presidential elections.

Amoroso was seen at the Mountain Barracks along with other members of the cabinet during the proclamation acts of various components of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, the National Intelligence Service and the Directorate of Military Counterintelligence.

Rumors about Elvis Amoroso’s absence from the public eye

In various media and social networks Rumors circulated about the absence of Elvis Amorosowhich ranged from his alleged imprisonment to his escape from Venezuela.

Regarding this, Maduro said at the event: “They were in daily psychological warfare. Semana magazine, from Bogotá, titled ‘Elvis Amoroso fled from Venezuela’. “I tell Vicky Dávila, an accomplice of drug trafficking and the paramilitaries, you fell out again.”

Until now, Amoroso has not spoken out to explain why the results of the presidential elections have not been published in the Electoral Gazetteas ordered by the TSJ, why its website is down or what happened to the pending audits of the system.
