The National Sailing Hall of Fame is pleased to announce the opening of the nomination window for the Class of 2025. From now until December 31, 2024, sailing enthusiasts nationwide should nominate candidates for consideration in the upcoming selection cycle.

Spike Lobdell, Head of the Selection Committee, looks forward to this year’s call for candidates. “Unlike the selection processes of many other Hall of Fames, ours starts with nominations from the public at-large. This signifies the breadth of individual skills and experiences that make an impact on our sport on a national level. We look for those in the sailing community with a lasting and expansive positive impact. The public has a critical role to play in helping us honor quality legends of our sport.”

Nominations must be submitted exclusively through the new online process on The Sailing Museum & National Sailing Hall of Fame website at thesailingmuseum.org. We look for candidates who meet the selection committee criteria and who demonstrate exceptional skill, commitment and positive influence within the sailing community. This includes pioneering sailors, innovative designers and dedicated contributors who have left an indelible mark on sailing’s history. Please note that nominations are only accepted via the website form, and submissions without nominator contact information or those sent directly to staff, Board Members, or Selection Committee members will not be considered. Nominations must be complete when submitted, as additional materials will not be considered.

The National Sailing Hall of Fame Class of 2025 Induction will be held in Newport, Rhode Island, on September 24-25, 2025. This event is a celebration not only of our sport’s history but also of its future. We urge everyone to take the time to submit nominations for quality candidates who have made significant contributions to sailing on a national or international level. The integrity of this honor relies on recognizing the most impactful and deserving individuals.
