Ameen condemns Govt’s handling of crime

St Augustine Member of Parliament Khadijah Ameen has expressed outrage following the brutal murder of taxi driver Earl James in Curepe and has linked it to what she deems to be government neglect and mismanagement of the ongoing crime crisis.
Ameen, in a statement she issued today, criticised National Security Minister Fitzgerald Hinds for deflecting responsibility and blaming the public for the rise in violent crime, as the murder count surpasses 500 this year.
“The tragic death of this taxi driver is yet another example of how their inaction has left ordinary citizens vulnerable and afraid,” Ameen stated.
Ameen called for urgent reforms and a more responsible approach to addressing crime, stating that the lives of innocent citizens like James should never be lost due to government inaction.
“Minister Hinds’ attempt to shift blame onto society is not only a disgrace but a gross dereliction of duty. The government must accept responsibility for creating safer communities, instead of deflecting blame, while families continue to grieve,” she added.
