A man was shot and killed while in the driver’s seat of his vehicle near the community centre in Bon Air, Arouca, yesterday afternoon.

Police said Nasar Hosein was shot while at the corner of Skylark Crescent. He died on the scene.

The incident occurred just around midday.

Hosein was known for offering his private car for hire, and frequently transported people to and from church and other destinations.

Relatives informed police that Hosein had no known enemies and was simply carrying out his usual activities.

As of last evening, police had not identified a motive for the killing.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, an employee at the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries was stabbed to death at Icebox Liquors in Curepe just around midday.

He has been identified as Matthew Mungaldeen, 29, of Riverside Road, Curepe.

Police said whilst in the bar, Mungaldeen got into an argument that escalated, with the suspect eventually stabbing him multiple times.

Mungaldeen ran out of the bar after the attack and collapsed on the ground, where he died despite the efforts made by people who attempted to help and resuscitate him.

Police said they do not know what the argument was about.

Investigations are ongoing.
