CARICOM and African Export-Import Bank sign partnership agreement



The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) have signed an agreement for the establishment of a partnership between the two entities.

The agreement aims to facilitate co-operation, support and provide assistance, and enable the promotion and financing of trade between African countries and CARICOM member states.

The agreement was signed by Guyana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation, Hugh Todd and the President of Afreximbank, Professor Benedict Oramah at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport in Guyana.

It was overseen by Barbados Prime Minister, Mia Amor Mottley along with the President of Guyana, Dr Irfaan Ali.

Before the signing of the agreement, delegations from Barbados and Guyana met with a team from Afreximbank.

Talks were later held virtually with the Governor of the Brazilian State of Roraima.
