After argument with girlfriend, Arima man abducted, beaten

Northern Division police are investigating reports that a 26-year-old Arima man was kidnapped and beaten after a heated argument with his girlfriend on Friday night. Police said the man was at his girlfriend’s D’Abadie home at around 10 pm when they got into an argument, during which the man got a cutlass and chopped her on her right finger.

The woman locked herself in the apartment as the man walked around the home destroying the windows before leaving. As he walked along the Piarco Old Road, the man was confronted by gunmen who shoved him in the trunk of a black Nissan B14 and drove off.

Passers by saw the confrontation and called the police who issued an All Points Bulletin (APB) through the police command centre. The man was found hours later at around 3.45 am on Saturday at Ojar Drive, Calliste Street, Mausica Road. When questioned by police, the man reported that men threw glass bottles at him but could not remember who he got to the location where he was found.

Investigators said the man appeared to be intoxicated and was taken to hospital by an ambulance.
