T&T’s Soca Warriors remained tenth in the Concacaf Men’s National Team Ranking following the conclusion of the Concacaf Nations League A round-robin stage last week.

The Concacaf Ranking Index grades all national teams across the confederation. National teams gain points for results in the on-going Nations League, the Concacaf Gold Cup, and other international matches.

In their two matches in the last international FIFA window, the Soca Warriors, under the guidance of caretake coach Derek King, a former national defender, saw his team drew 2-2 away to Cuba before beating the same team 3-1 last Monday at the Dwight Yorke Stadium in Bacolet, Tobago.

This after suffering a 4-0 loss away to Honduras followed by a goalless draw at home with French Guiana to end five points from four matches and the fourth spot on the six-team table to miss out on advancing to the quarterfinals.

Jamaica topped the table with eight points, while Honduras finished ahead of Nicaragua in the second spot on goal- difference after both teams tallied seven points each, with Cuba and French Guiana being demoted to League B with three and one point, respectively.

By topping the group after a 2-0 win over Nicaragua and a 0-0 draw with Honduras in their last two matches,

Jamaica (1,627 points) remained the highest-ranked Caribbean nation at sixth overall in Concacaf.

Haiti (1,459) at eight overall and T&T (1,313) at tenth are the only others in the top ten.

Martinique (1,296) at 11th overall and Suriname (1,145) at 14th complete the top five from the Caribbean region.

Suriname (1,145) was the most improved nation, moving up three spots to 14th overall. Suriname closed out the League A group stage with a 1-1 draw at Costa Rica and a 5-1 victory over Guyana to finish second in Group A and advance to the tournament quarterfinals.

The Dominican Republic (1,020) at 18th overall and Bermuda (884) at 21st were the other nations that improved their standing by moving up two spots.

The biggest upset of the month came as Saint Martin, 35th overall, won 4-0 at St Lucia in Group B of League B and earned 50 points in October but remains in 35th place. St. Lucia, coached by T&T’s Stern John, was previously ranked 21st overall and dropped two spots to 23rd.

The Mexico men’s national team retained the top spot in the latest Concacaf with 1,900 points, with Canada (1,807), USA (1,776), and Panama (1,730) behind them in the top four. Concacaf Nations League group winners in League A, Costa Rica (1,685) and Jamaica (1,627), follow for an unchanged top six.

Honduras (1,478), Haiti (1,459), Guatemala (1,423), and T&T round out the top ten.

Panama (1,730) is the highest-ranked nation from Central America and fourth overall, with Costa Rica (1,685) next and sixth overall.

Honduras (1,478) moved from eighth to seventh overall and is the only nation in the top ten that improved its ranking.

Los Catrachos are the third-highest ranked Central American nation, followed by Guatemala (1,423) at ninth overall and El Salvador (1,228) at twelfth to complete the top five.
