Pedro Tellechea, arrest of the former president of PDVSA confirmed
The government of Nicolás Maduro confirmed this Monday the arrest of Pedro Tellechea, former Minister of Petroleum and former president of Petróleos de Venezuela -Pdvsa-.
The information published by the Public Ministry indicates that the former official was arrested during the early hours of Sunday for the alleged commission of crimes that would threaten the interests of the country.
«The delivery of the Automated Command and Control System stands out among the different causes that follow, known as the brain of PDVSAto a company controlled by the United States Intelligence Services,” the institution indicated.
For the Chavista regime, Tellechea, who resigned from his position last Friday citing alleged health problems, would have violated all legal mechanisms and the sovereignty of Venezuela.
«These actions of the Public Ministry have been carried out in strict accordance with the law, with the full constitutional cooperation of the head of state, in the permanent battle to defend the institutional integrity of the country,” he states.
“I made the difficult decision to resign”
Pedro Tellechea had communicated on Friday his decision to renounce the responsibilities he had within the socialist regime.
“After careful personal consideration, and together with my family group, I have made the difficult decision to resign from my responsibilities within this organization, motivated by health problems that require my immediate attention.”
