Communist Party reiterates its position against Maduro:

  • Oct, Tue, 2024

The Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) denounced this Tuesday an “escalation of despotic practices” in the government of Nicolás Maduro because, it said, “illegal” dismissals in the public administration continue, as well as “arbitrary detentions.”

«We want to express our concern about the escalation of the despotic practices carried out by the leadership of the government of Nicolás Maduro and the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), which have worsened in recent months, specifically, after the elections. presidential elections,” said Neirlay Andrade, a member of the PCV political bureau, quoted in a press release.

Andrade denounced that in recent weeks, “illegal” dismissals in the public administration, as well as “arbitrary detentions” by “State intelligence agencies,” have “increased”, without offering figures.

“This is the case of 65 oil workers, particularly from the east of the country, from Anzoátegui, Monagas, who were detained by the General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence,” he added.

He maintained that the reasons for the arrest of these workers are unknown and, he said, their relatives also have no news of their whereabouts who, they presume, are detained in Caracas.

«We are clearly facing a process that violates the rights in this case, of this group of workers in the oil industry. We demand that this murky situation be clarified, that these workers be immediately released, that the harassment stop,” he added.

On the other hand, the communist formation expressed solidarity with the Zulia Humana movement after the arrest of the regional deputy of the Legislative Council of that same region Eduardo Labrador, as reported on Friday by the Vente Venezuela (VV) political party, led by María Corina Machado.

“We want to warn about these practices that are violating the political rights of the Venezuelan people and that are joining other measures that the Government has taken in recent years to restrict debate and criticism in the country,” Andrade added.

Vente Venezuela indicated, through X, that Labrador was detained on Friday morning by state police officials when he was preparing to visit his daughter.

The party then indicated that it does not know the whereabouts of the legislator.
