Was Elvis Amoroso arrested while trying to flee Venezuela?

  • Oct, Tue, 2024

On Tuesday, October 15, 2024, lawyer Emmanuel Rincón shared on his X account the news about the alleged arrest of Elvis Amoroso, president of the National Electoral Council, while trying to flee Venezuela. The information is false.

The highest authority of the Electoral Power appeared in the Mountain Barracks, together with the heads of public powers, during the transfer of command of various components of the Armed Forces, the Sebin and the Dgcim, on Tuesday the 15th.

Amoroso had not been seen in public since August 5, when he appeared before the Supreme Court of Justice to provide documents validating the proclamation of Nicolás Maduro as the winner of the July 28 presidential election.

Rincón took as a source an article published in “informeorwell.com”, which, in turn, partially replicated a report published by the media. Miami Herald. According to the article, “the latest rumors circulating in Venezuela” indicated that Amoroso was detained in Fuerte Tiuna and that he was held there after being caught making plans to leave the country.

The note does not raise the alleged escape of the president of the CNE as a real eventunlike Emmanuel Rincón. After Elvis Amoroso’s appearance on national television, the lawyer deleted his publication.

In addition to the alleged arrest, it was said that Elvis Amoroso was “held against his will” at the Miraflores Presidential Palace and also that he had been detained in Argentina during a “luxurious walk,” a rumor that we deny in September.
