Today’s Highlights:
Scores of citizens gathered in Tobago over the weekend to celebrate their 3rd annual October Carnival.
• Tobago Carnival 2024 emerged victorious from the well-attended fetes, J’ouvert to mas.
A total of seven (7) murders were recorded in the country between Friday and Monday.
• The murders took place in the Southern Division, Port-of-Spain Division, Northern Division, North Eastern Division and the North Central Division.
• All seven victims died as a result of gun violence.
• One Female was also among the murdered victims.
30-year-old Khadijah Hackett of Couva was shot and killed by a man known to her moments after leaving a bar at the Corner of Dallas Ave and Cocoyea Main Road, San Fernando early on Monday 28th October, 2024.
36-year-old Jamal Lynch aka Akee of Laventille Road, Port-of-Spain was gunned down along Laventille Road in the vicinity of Schuller Street near the spring, Port-of-Spain on Sunday 27th October, 2024.
A taxi driver identified as Roger Bailey of Lantana Court, La Horquetta was shot and killed while plying for hire in Tulip Lane, La Horquetta on Sunday 27th October, 2024.
A man was found shot to death in Blanchisseuse Road, Arima on Saturday 26th October, 2024.
• The deceased was identified as 24-year-old Stephen Jack, a PH taxi driver of Calvary Branch Road, Arima.
25-year-old Marcus Pierre aka “Garvey” of Stony Hill Avenue, Tarodale was shot dead near his home at the Corner of Yallahas and Stony Hill Avenues in Tarodale early on Saturday 26th October, 2024.
A shooting at the corner of Charlo Lane and Laventille Road in San Juan left one man dead and two others, including a 9-year-old girl injured early on Saturday 26th October, 2024.
• The deceased was identified as 24-year-old Jamal Grant of Charlo Lane, Laventille Road, San Juan, while the injured victims were identified as 44-year-old Nkosi Phillip aka ‘Jumper’ and his 9-year-old daughter both of Saddle Road, San Juan.
Fruit and Vegetable vendor Curtis Davies succumbed to his injuries on Friday 25th October, 2024, after he was shot at his stall in Bamboo #3 on Monday 21st October, 2024.
A pensioner committed suicide at his Borde Narve home on Sunday 27th October, 2024.
• The deceased was identified as 72-year-old Shabram Durhadeen of Pancham Avenue, Cipero Road, Borde Narve.
Global Organization People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) calls for the NCIC to rescind the invitation to acting Prime Minister, Stuart Young as a result of homophobic slurs made against opposition leader, Kamla Persad-Bissessar during Parliament.
Two men were apprehended in El Socorro moments after they robbed a pensioner in Trincity on Sunday 27th October, 2024.
• The suspects were identified as 22-year-old Brandon Dickson of Sogren Trace, Laventille and 20-year-old Sean Dickson of Upper St. Barbs Road, Laventille.
A suspect was held with an AR-15 rifle at Providence Circular in Santa Cruz following a shooting incident with police on Friday 25th October 2024.
Ten (10) pallets of stolen alcohol were recovered in Morvant after it was taken from an Arima business on Friday 25th October, 2024.
A man was shot while chasing two bandits that moments earlier robbed him and his friend outside Stonewall Bar at the corner of Harris and Sutton Street in San Fernando on Friday 25th October, 2024.
• The injured victim was identified as 23-year-old Luis Fernando Cabera of Corinth Hills, San Fernando.
