As the PNM continues its screening process for suitable candidates to contest the next General Elections, MP for Lopinot/Bon Air West Marvin Gonzales isn’t revealing his thoughts on running for re-election just yet.

But it’s not because he doesn’t want to.

MP Gonzales told Guardian Media he’s observing the proper protocols as his constituency executive must first make the decision to submit him for consideration.

“Once that executive is installed and the party groups are put in place,” he explained, “then i am going to engage the executive on their feelings—in terms of my representation over the last four years, going into the fifth year.  Based on the feedback I get; I am going to make a final determination … I respect the process.”

The Lopinot/Bon Air West MP revealed, however, that returning to public office is a decision he must make with his family.

“It has taken a toll on my family,” he admitted.  “It calls for tremendous sacrifice.”

“I enjoy service at the level of the Government and at the level of the Constituency,” he said, “but in moving forward, I need to hear the views of people—and key people—before making decisions.”

Marvin Gonzales asserts he will give a full account of his tenure as MP since 2020.

He is expected to meet with his executive today, as screening has already begun for the PNM’s election candidates.
