Hazardous seas alert in effect until Tuesday

  • Nov, Mon, 2024

The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service has issued a yellow level Hazardous Seas Alert for the northern and north-eastern exposed coastal areas of Trinidad and Tobago.

The alert is in effect from 10pm Sunday to 2pm Tuesday afternoon.

The Met Office said:

“Long period north-easterly swells are expected to affect mainly nearshore north-facing coastal areas of Trinidad and Tobago. Impacts: Battering waves at the affected shorelines, which can be exacerbated at high tides. Near-shore activities (fishing, sea-bathing, mooring of boats, etc.) can be adversely affected.”

The Met Office said all marine interests should monitor nearshore and coastal sea conditions and exercise caution along affected areas, and limit nearshore marine activities.

The public is urged to continue to monitor updates from the Met Office via its social media channels.
