Teenager Lauriannys Valentina Cedeño Farías, 17 years old, arrested in Carúpano, Sucre state, on August 14 for sending a WhatsApp message against the Results of the July 28 process announced by the National Electoral Council (CNE)is in a delicate state of health.

The teenager was arrested in Carúpano after forwarding information in a WhatsApp group rejecting the government and a member of the Bolívar Chávez Battle Unit (UBCh) of her community reported her to the security forces.

The NGO Justice, Encounter and Forgiveness (JEP) warned that, while the young woman was in a health center, She was prosecuted without the right to a defense for the crime of inciting hatred and was sentenced to imprisonment.

Local media in Cumaná reported that the teenager detained in Carúpano, who recently graduated from high school, faces the charge of inciting hatred after the messages she made on July 29.

Foro Penal has counted at least 1,503 confirmed arrests in Venezuela in the context of post-election protests against the official result of the presidential election. Of this group, 129 are adolescents, 14 indigenous people, 18 people with disabilities or chronic illnesses and 200 women.
