THE American Chamber of Commerce of Trinidad and Tobago (AMCHAM T&T) has congratulated United States President-elect Donald Trump and his running-mate, Vice President-elect JD Vance, on “their historic election victory”.
“We are encouraged by the peaceful and orderly conduct of the US electoral process, which upheld democratic principles and allowed citizens to exercise their right to vote in a free, fair, and transparent manner,” the business group said in a media release yesterday.
“AMCHAM T&T looks forward to the opportunities it brings to further strengthen the long-standing partnership between the United States and Trinidad and Tobago. Over the past 32 years, AMCHAM T&T has worked with White House Administrations from both of the major parties in the US and, indeed in T&T. Our goal of increasing economic ties between our countries does not change. We are here to support our membership and to support the development of trade between our two nations,” it stated. “As the new administration rolls out its Americas team and agenda, we will engage to support this goal. As a business chamber, we are eager to continue fostering a relationship that supports growth, innovation, and prosperity for both our nations.”
The business group said it also remained committed to working closely with the US Embassy and other stakeholders to “build on the shared values and mutual interests that unite us. We are particularly optimistic about the potential for collaboration in critical areas such as trade, energy, investment, and security—issues vital to the continued success of both Trinidad and Tobago and the wider Caribbean region.”
AMCHAM T&T said it looked forward to “engaging with the incoming Trump-Vance administration on these important matters and offers our best wishes for success in the years ahead.”
