Minister of National Security Media Conference at Trinidad and Tobago Forensic Science Centre

-Minister of National Security, the Honourable Fitzgerald Hinds M.P held a Media Conference today, Friday April 14, 2023 at the Trinidad and Tobago Forensic Science Centre (TTFSC) to update the public on matters related to the TTFSC. The Minister was joined by Director (Ag.) of the TTFSC, Mr. Derrick Sankar; Deputy Director (Ag.) of the TTFSC, Ms. Michelle Nasseir; and Senior Superintendent, Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), Mr. Rishi Singh.

The Minister along with the officials present provided an update on:

-The construction of a new Trinidad and Tobago Forensic Science Centre in St. Joseph;

-Improvements in the pace of evidence analysis including DNA and ballistics; and

-Greater collaboration between the TTPS and the TTFSC with regard to evidence gathering and analysis.

Minister Hinds gave the assurance that the Ministry will continue to provide the necessary resources to the TTFSC for their important work in the criminal justice system.
