TTO PRO golfer Ben Martin won the Professional division of the 2024 Jamaica Open Presented by Aqua Bay Resort and Vybwear that concluded on Wednesday.
And Trinidad and Tobago Golf Association (TTGA) president Wayne Baptiste claimed the Amateur Senior division title at the same tournament held at the Tryall Golf Club, in Hanover.
Martin was steady throughout, ending on a seven-under-par 209 to take the crown by one stroke.
The TTO golfer swung his way to rounds of two-under-par 70 on the first day, four-under-par 68 on the second, one under par 71 on the third and replicated that score on the fourth and final day.
In runner-up position was Canadian Jacob Lehman who had a rough start with a two-over-par 74 on the first day but finished strongly with three consecutive scores of four-under-par 68 for the final three rounds to fall just short of Martin on six-under-par 210.
The pair of USA’s Mac McClear and France’s Pierre Viallineix both grossed five-under par 211 for joint third.
Baptiste was a more comfortable champion of his division.
The TTGA president was three strokes clear of his pursuer, finishing his four rounds in a 19-over-par 235.
That performance included rounds of three six-over-par 78 scores on the first, second and final day, interjected by a third round seven-over-par 79.
Canada’s Edward Atwill grossed 238 (79+79+81+81), while Jamaica’s Mark Newnham was third on 240 (84+78+78+78).
