The opposition leader Edmundo González Urrutia met with Joseb Borrell, high representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, to talk about the crisis in Venezuela, and he committed to fighting for democracy in the country and respecting the decision that citizens made on July 28 in the presidential elections.
González Urrutia indicated through his social networks that Borrell expressed to him in a “quite extensive” talk in Brussels the commitment it has to fulfill the democratic will citizen in Venezuela.
“We Venezuelans have allies, very strong allies, to rescue democracy in our country,” said the standard-bearer of the Democratic Unitary Platform after the meeting with Borrell.
I had previously thanked the European Union for its solidarity with the Venezuelan cause.
As part of his participation in a plenary session of the European Parliament in Brussels, Belgium, González Urrutia also met with legislators fromthe Popular Party and the PSOE, who also reiterated their support in the fight to restore democracy in Venezuela.
The opposition leader will travel in the coming days to The Hague to thank the government of the Netherlands.
